This website is the on-line version of the Bartholomew Buffet cookbook published in 2003. Below is the preface page to that cookbook which I believe sums everything this site stands for . . .
Heavenly Father,
Bless us this day and bless this food.
Bless those hands that partake of it,
Bless those hands that prepared it.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
This is the prayer that starts each holiday meal for the Bartholomew family, so it only seems fitting to start our collection of recipes with the same blessing. We hope you’ll store this cookbook on your kitchen counter. We think you’ll use it that often. We started with a goal of 15 or 30 recipes and finished with a well-rounded cookbook filled with old favorites and new specialties. Use it to plan menus for your family, or to page through and remember all of the times that you stood in line at the Bartholomew Buffet!

SITE DEVELOPMENT
Since I wasn’t involved with the creation of the original cookbook I was surprised to learn that none of the electronic files were retained (crazy I know). So, I took the binding out of one of the remaining untouched cookbooks and scanned with an automatic feed scanner and saved the output file to PDF. I then used Adobe Acrobat’s (Professional version) built in OCR Text Recognition function to turn the scanned pages into text. I’ve slowly populated this WordPress blog as I found time. I’ve learned a lot about blogging and have had a blast putting this site together. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I’ve enjoyed building it.
